Oritsejafor donates cars, tricycles

President of Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has donated cars, tricycles and other items to the less priviledged.

A statement by his Special Assistant (Media and Public Affairs), Mr. Kenny Ashaka, said the cleric gave out six brand new Hyundai cars, 15 tricycles, 100 grinding machines, 3.8KVA power generating plants and 200 bags of rice in Warri, Delta State, on Wednesday.

According to the statement, Oritsejafor made the donations to reduce poverty in the country.

The yearly empowerment programme was organised by the World of Life Bible Church through Eagle Flight Micro Finance Bank owned by the church.

He said the responsibility of government at all levels was to cater for all Nigerians, stressing that the government would have failed if it refused to help the poor.

Oritsejafor said, “Why is it that wealthy Nigerians and corporate organisations cannot do much more than what the church is doing in terms of bringing succour to the people?

“There are institutions, corporate bodies, industrial establishments that are entrenched in different communities and are making millions of Naira. You want to look at how much some of these companies are putting back into the communities. It would be ridiculous how meagre it is.”

One way to freshen up (or destroy) a popular franchise is to change the lead actor. It can work – Jeremy Renner did a decent job taking over from Matt Damon in the “Bourne” series – but we’re not sure how it will affect the blockbuster “Transformer” films.
Director Michael Bay just announced that Mark Wahlberg will join the fourth installment of the franchise, replacing Shia LaBeouf.
Bay wrote on his website, “Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on ‘Pain and Gain’ and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the ‘Transformers’ legacy.”
LaBeouf has made no secret of the fact that he is sick of making big-budget films. In a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter over the summer the actor explained how he’d like to make good quality, low-budget independent films. He said, “There’s no room for being a visionary in the studio system. It literally cannot exist. You give Terrence Malick a movie like Transformers, and he’s f**ked. There’s no way for him to exist in that world.”
Bay’s first ‘Transformers’ film was a box office sensation in 2007, as it earned over $700 million worldwide.
Second instalment titled ‘Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen’ (2009), grossed more than $830 million worldwide,
And in 2011 came third movie in the franchise. Titled ‘Transformers: Dark Of The Moon’, it grossed over a billion dollars.
The shooting for “Transformers 4″ will begin in spring 2013 and is set for release in 2014.

Woman Fired From Job For Being Too Attractive

“I think it is completely wrong,” Nelson said. “I think it is sending a message that men can do whatever they want in the work force.”
On Friday, the all-male Iowa State Supreme Court ruled that James Knight, Nelson’s boss, was within his legal rights when he fired her, affirming the decision of a lower court.
“We do think the Iowa Supreme Court got it completely right,” said Stuart Cochrane, an attorney for James Knight. “Our position has always been Mrs. Nelson was never terminated because of her gender, she was terminated because of concerns her behavior was not appropriate in the workplace. She’s an attractive lady. Dr. Knight found her behavior and dress to be inappropriate.”
For Nelson, a 32-year-old married mother of two, the news of her firing and the rationale behind it came as a shock.
“I was very surprised after working so many years side by side I didn’t have any idea that that would have crossed his mind,” she said.
The two never had a s*xual relationship or sought one, according to court documents, however in the final year and a half of Nelson’s employment, Knight began to make comments about her clothing being too tight or distracting.
“Dr. Knight acknowledges he once told Nelson that if she saw his pants bulging, she would know her clothing was too revealing,” the justices wrote.
Six months before Nelson was fired, she and her boss began exchanging text messages about work and personal matters, such as updates about each of their children’s activities, the justices wrote.
The messages were mostly mundane, but Nelson recalled one text she received from her boss asking “how often she experienced an climax.”
Nelson did not respond to the text and never indicated that she was uncomfortable with Knight’s question, according to court documents.
Soon after, Knight’s wife, Jeanne, who also works at the practice, found out about the text messaging and ordered her husband to fire Nelson.
The couple consulted with a senior pastor at their church and he agreed that Nelson should be terminated in order to protect their marriage, Cochrane said.
On Jan. 4, 2010, Nelson was summoned to a meeting with Knight while a pastor was present. Knight then read from a prepared statement telling Nelson she was fired.
“Dr. Knight felt like for the best interest of his marriage and the best interest of hers to end their employment relationship,” Cochrane said.
Knight acknowledged in court documents that Nelson was good at her job and she, in turn, said she was generally treated with respect.
“I’m devastated. I really am,” Nelson said.
When Nelson’s husband tried to reason with Knight, the dentist told him he “feared he would have an affair with her down the road if he did not fire her.”
Paige Fiedler, Nelson’s attorney, said in a statement to ABC News affiliate KCRG that she was “appalled” by the ruling.
“We are appalled by the Court’s ruling and its failure to understand the nature of gender bias.,” she wrote.
“Although people act for a variety of reasons, it is very common for women to be targeted for discrimination because of their s*xual attractiveness or supposed lack of s*xual attractiveness. That is discrimination based on s*x,” Fiedler wrote. “Nearly every woman in Iowa understands this because we have experienced it for ourselves.”being too “irresistible” and a “threat” to her employer’s marriage

It was only just before the election that Barack Obama first heard "Gangnam Style."

At the time, he noted tentatively: "I think I can do that move. But I'm not sure that the inauguration ball is the appropriate time to break that out."

Two months later, he's still reluctant to do the dance in public -- but he's apparently more than willing to do it at home.

"They're cooler than I am," the president says of his daughters in a new interview with People magazine. "There are things I like that they think are cheesy, like 'Gangnam Style.'" He adds that he "absolutely" does the now-internationally-famous "gallop" to embarrass his kids.

Obama has already expressed his appreciation of the mega-viral hit in person, according to an interview with Psy in The Hollywood Reporter. The South Korean singer explained: “He told me he’s good at ‘Gangnam Style’ but that the ladies at his house are embarrassed when he’s dancing so he’s not doing it.”

In the People interview, the president and Mrs. Obama also discussed their family life on a more serious level.

Mrs. Obama said the girls have plenty of time to decide what they want to do when they grow up -- Malia's "a freshman, so she also knows she has years in college to explore her interest," and Sasha "doesn't even try and lay it out yet."

Meanwhile, the president waxed sentimental about how quickly the time goes.

"There's something about your daughters that just breaks your heart. ... The finite amount of time you have with your children, and the joy they bring on a minute-to-minute, day-by-day basis -- the idea that that's not there all the time is something that can hit me hard sometimes."

Breaking News: Explosion Rocks Lagos

Reports we are monitoring indicate that a multi-storey building packed with fire works has exploded in the Idumagbo area of Lagos Island, Lagos some minutes ago injuring an unspecified number of persons.
The explosion which affected nearby buildings and cars is suspected to have been caused by a Fireworks storage facility in jankara market idumota. The building is said to be located on Oko Awo Street in the popular Jankara area of Lagos, close to King Ado Secondary School.
Witnesses said the explosion went off around 9.30a.m as the city marked Boxing Day amid a lull in business activities.
Injured persons have been rushed to the hospital with serious burns even as firefighters and rescue agencies swiftly deployed on the scene and battled the raging inferno.

Chris Brown Reportedly Paid N155m For Lagos

Chris Brown’s visit to Nigeria last weekend has come and gone but what most people did not know is the American R & B singer was reportedly paid a whopping $1m for his appearance with a 15-man crew in the country.
Although financial details of the deal were not made public, we gathered that a significant part of that money was paid by Oando boss, Wale Tinubu with telecommunications giant, Etisalat, coming in as last minute sponsors of the gig which held at the Expo Hall of the Eko Hotel & Suites Lagos.
