Well, that’s exactly what Qian Zhijun of China did. In 2003, someone
took a picture of Qian on the busy street of Shanghai. Then, as
pictures often do, it ended up on theInternet and went viral. People
began superimposing Qian’s face onto other images and gavehim the
nickname “Little Fatty.” Unfortunately, he had no idea that he was
gaining such a massive following until someone went up to him in a
café and asked if he was the “real” Little Fatty.
Initially humiliated, Qian said, “I have tried to turn sorrow into
strength. At least this makes people smile and I have had quite
apositive response.” After making the most of the situation, he’s now
a mega superstar and has been named one of the most famous faces in
China. He’s starred in both movies and TV shows and was named Online
Person of the Year in2006.
